What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides ongoing daily support so participants can live as independently as possible. Participants can receive 24 X 7 care for supports that may include personal care, household management, meal preparation and daily living skill development all delivered in a way that that supports your choice and control as well as encourages growth. Participants can also receive community access from their familiar staff to maintain continuity of care.

- Short-Term Accommodation (STA), often called respite, provides temporary support for participants when their usual carers are unavailable, when they need a break or have limited funding to receive ongoing supports . It offers a safe, comfortable home environment with 24/7 care and engaging activities.
- Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) offers transitional housing for participants while they are waiting for permanent SIL placement, home modifications in SDA houses, or long-term housing solutions. It helps maintain routine and continuity of care during times of change. Kaizen support services can continue providing supports in SIL placements once participant have got funding reviews or home modification completed .
Both options are ideal for participants who need flexible, short or medium-term stays while receiving consistent, person-centred support.
